Kinky Flicks

On April 8, my Danish friend Steen Schapiro screened “The Pain Game,“ my BDSM docu-film, as prelude to his new short, “Loops!”  The soirée took place at Club Débauche in Copenhagen, thirteen years after my film premiered at Frameline in San Francisco. The next day I received several online orders from Danes who were at the screening and wanted their own DVD.  Real connection and caring sadomasochism do not age!

Last century, really in 1999, I met Creed. She had volunteered to be my demo “bottom” for the presentation I gave at Denver’s Thunder In the Mountains, one of my very favorite Leather Conferences. During our play scene we truly connected.  A beautiful masochist, she was 100% present and willing.  Her personal power and ability to surrender really touched me.

I wanted to capture on video real SM play between consenting adults. I wanted to show caring sadomasochism, raw emotions, the real stuff hot SM is made of.

She was the one!  I had no doubt.  I gave her one year to think about it.  Of course, we stayed in touch…and a few months later she accepted.

Fortunately, my friend Annie Sprinkle not only knew what it takes to make a film, she also knew sex positive docu-film makers!  I assembled a crew, all women except for the soundman and shot the film in my dungeon in just two days!  Setting up lights and running sound checks took the longest.

The piercings and clothespin zippers I ripped off Creed’s back were captured on video in just one take. of course.  That input is very Intense!  The magic of it all was that our crew was so tuned in that we forgot they were there, camera in hands.

From “The Pain Game”

I am honored that “The Pain Game” continues to be part of BDSM education here and abroad. Thanks, Steen!

With “Loops” Steen Schapiro, filmmaker,  family man and sex activist, reintroduces us to  the porno loops of the 80s shot with a keen eye for beauty, and kink esthetics. During each sex scene, the players tell us non-erotic stories.  A gorgeous blonde  bounces on the hard cock of a man in drag while sharing with us her love of art galleries.  A 30 something woman is verbal about equal pay for equal work as the guy she is with cums on her face  and a latex clad Domme fucks her Barbie partner as she describes the joys of motherhood … This strange separation of visual and audio reminds me of what it is like to not be present … to let our minds run the show rather than feeling what is.  A very interesting art experiment indeed!

As Steen told me  “Loops,” would not turn on the spectator. It is sexual but not sexy.  It fits with his observation that  “We seem to have created a culture designed to make us fear and hide from that which can touch, move and transform us.” We agree that, as stated on his website,  “Art, sex and love have the power to transform us.  We’re here to explore, play, travel… into the Magical.”
